- Act 3: Quest 19 - Ultimate destruction of the World-Eater

Summary: Before the final battle against Alduin, his mist must be dispelled. This is achieved together with the three heroes. Then Alduin faces you in combat, and you must claim the ultimate victory.
Completing this quest is considered an achievement.

Help the heroes of Sovngarde dispel Alduin's mist
With fierce determination to defeat the "worm" Alduin once and for all, the three heroes charge toward the exit of the Hall of Valor with weapons drawn. You can follow them immediately or look around one last time to converse with other historical figures. Once you step outside, you will never be able to return.
Gormlaith Golden-Hilt, Felldir the Old, and Hakon One-Eye wait by the door. As soon as you catch up with them, they leave the hall and race across the whalebone bridge into the valley. You pass Tsun, who passes on Shor's blessing for the upcoming battle. Felldir Felldir speaks of long-awaited vengeance, Hakon Hakon shouts that he has waited a hundred lifetimes for this moment, and Gormlaith has eyes only for Alduin's doom – his death or ours!
After positioning yourselves in the valley, you agree to first blow away the fog using the "Clear Skies" shout. The combined shout takes effect, and the mist dissipates. Shortly after, however, Alduin summons the fog anew. You decide to do it once more, as it apparently weakens Alduin's power. After Alduin generates the mist yet again, you join forces to use the shout for a third and final time, dispelling the fog for good.
Defeat Alduin
As soon as Alduin appears, you must force him to land using "Dragonrend". You must repeatedly use this shout against him to prevent him from taking off.
The final battle against the World-Eater.
The heroes fight bravely, calling out to one another for courage and steadfastness. Alduin writhes under the effect of Dragonrend, spewing fire, biting, and lashing out with his tail. However, under the combined attacks, his health gradually depletes, and finally, he is at his end. Shortly before his death, he shouts to the player:
"- Dovahkiin, hin kah fen kos bonaar."★
and at the moment of death:
"- Zu'u unslaad! Zu'u nis oblaan!"★
In a massive act of destruction, his body first explodes, and then his soul dissipates as well.
The destiny of the Dragonborn is fulfilled.
As soon as nothing remains of Alduin and light returns to Sovngarde, the quest ends. What follows is a sort of epilogue, where conversations take place to finally conclude the matter of Alduin.
Tips & Notes
As seen in Helgen and atop the Throat of the World, Alduin summons a meteor storm that damages all of his opponents (and innocent bystanders) with burning boulders.
Alduin is completely invulnerable until you cast "Dragonrend" on him. Even when he is grounded, you cannot inflict any damage on him unless he is glowing bluish under the effect of the shout.
Although Tsun stands nearby with his weapon drawn, he does not intervene in the battle.
The three heroes are perfectly capable of shouting dragon shouts (such as "Clear Skies"). Why it remains the sole task of the player to cast "Dragonrend" is Bethesda's secret – after all, these three are the ones who invented that very shout.
The game actively prevents Alduin from being killed by anyone other than the player. If you do nothing but cast "Dragonrend" from a safe distance, the game enters a holding loop once Alduin's life reaches its absolute end. All combat actions cease, and everyone waits for the player's final deadly blow or spell. A truly grotesque situation.
It is neither possible to loot Alduin's remains nor to absorb his soul.
