AoM
'Age of Mythology' is a renowned real-time strategy game. It belongs directly to the acclaimed 'Age of Empires' franchise and features very similar core gameplay mechanics; however, the overall setting focuses strictly on ancient mythology instead of real-world history.

At the very beginning of a match, players select one of the core civilizations alongside one of three powerful major gods — for the Greeks, these primary deities are Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades. As players progress further through the game, they can advance into new historical ages, being required to choose a unique minor god at each step. Throughout the course of the game, you guide the development of your civilization, gaining access to diverse myth units and up to four distinct god powers by worshiping different deities. Furthermore, each chosen god grants special technologies that are of vital importance to your people. Consequently, the individual civilizations in 'Age of Mythology' achieve a level of distinct individuality that is far more significant than the faction differences found in 'Age of Empires' or 'Age of Kings'.

Originally released in 2002, Age of Mythology arrived as a cutting-edge PC title featuring a fully three-dimensional graphics engine. It includes an extensive single-player campaign spanning 32 missions, which thoroughly introduces players to all historical, mythological, and gameplay mechanics. Rich background information regarding historical sites, legendary characters, religions, and ancient myths deeply enhances the overall player experience. Additionally, the game offers a fully functional multiplayer mode via the internet (specifically the modern Steam version) and local networks, alongside a versatile built-in scenario editor.

One year later, the official expansion pack The Titans was released, introducing the Atlantean civilization — worshiping the major gods Kronos, Oranos, and Gaia — to join the Greeks, Egyptians, and Norse from the base game. Furthermore, this expansion introduced a powerful fifth age, allowing players to unleash a massive, devastating Titan from the depths of Tartarus to crush their opponents on the battlefield.

In January 2016, the add-on Tale of the Dragon was released, adding the Chinese civilization, three major gods, and a new campaign.
AoMRetold
Released in 2024, "Age of Mythology: Retold" features animations, characters, and textures newly developed for 4k resolution. It introduces a redesigned user interface, fresh graphics, and new features.
The editor was also expanded, though not as extensively as hoped. Initial instabilities are being progressively fixed with patches.

However, the partly emotionless voice acting and poor localization are a step backward and remain a major annoyance, causing much of the game's original atmosphere to be lost.

Adria
Adria is a custom scenario that I developed back in 2005 for 'Age of Mythology'. To play it, the installed expansion 'The Titans' is required. It is designed for single-player mode and utilizes the standard gameplay mechanics.

As is so often the case, the ultimate goal is world domination — this time set in the Mediterranean region. You start as the Atlanteans and, throughout the game, can rely on the support of allies and heroes, though you must first locate and rescue them.

The scenario is designed in a way that many objectives cannot be achieved through brute force, but rather require cleverness and strategic planning. This ensures the game remains a true challenge, even on the easiest difficulty setting.

Kanaan
I also designed the Kanaan single-player scenario back in 2005. This development incorporates all the knowledge and expertise I gathered regarding the extensive possibilities of both the game and its map editor.

Players are immersed in an engaging storyline, which is partially narrated through NPC actions and voice lines. The player's choices — such as exploring, discovering, constructing buildings, fighting, and advancing through the technological ages — directly influence the course of the game, even if it is not immediately apparent. Once again, I put a great deal of effort into making the gameplay exciting without forcing players into constant combat. Several game elements and triggers are activated completely at random, ensuring that the match develops a bit differently every single time you play. The descriptions of your sub-objectives can be reviewed in the quest log at any time. Furthermore, certain achievements are rewarded by other factions by placing their own heroes under your command. It is therefore highly recommended to pay close attention to all in-game messages.

You start as the Atlanteans and can set out immediately on a journey to reach fallen heroes. The setting features a land surrounding an inland sea, populated by various civilizations that form different factions. Regardless of how you manage your diplomatic relations, everyone dreads the great danger that might come from the north. And it will come. Exactly when this happens depends entirely on your specific playstyle.

To maintain proper game balance, the release and deployment of an overpowered Titan is restricted. Nevertheless, the installed expansion 'The Titans' is strictly required in order to play this scenario.

Important Notes for International Players:

  • In-Game Language: Due to technical limitations in Age of Mythology, custom scenarios cannot be designed to be truly multilingual. Therefore, all written text outputs, quest objectives, and in-game messages are available in German only. (Where possible, however, the in-game voices and unit dialogues will still utilize the audio files of your local game client language).

  • Steam Workshop Available: Alternatively, this scenario can also be discovered and installed directly via the Steam Workshop. However, as this is my personal creation, I continue to offer it here as a direct download for your convenience.

Adapted and expanded for "AoM Extended Edition"

Kolchis
In 2024, I developed the custom scenario "Kolchis". It is a single-player adventure that requires the "AoM Extended Edition" to run. The storyline centers around the final phase of the famous expedition of the Argonauts.

Players are guided through the adventure by a series of successive objectives. As with my other scenarios, success here does not rely on brute force and mindless destruction, but rather on clever, well-planned strategy. This keeps the gameplay interesting and exciting, even on the easiest difficulty setting. Several randomized elements enrich the experience and ensure variety, while certain gameplay aspects scale depending on your chosen difficulty level.
